st grade: Students are formalizing their ideas for their own version of the game SET. After analyzing the game in more depth, students recognized the need for three extremely distinct shapes, colors, and shadings to be used in their game. Next week we will translate these ideas into actual playing cards. It will take dedication, perseverance, and self-discipline to create the 81 card game. This group is most definitely up for the challenge!
nd grade: The art of origami demands concentration, precision, and critical thinking. The GT cuties have really enjoyed learning how to make a variety of origami figures. The process involves using apps or a website for directions and independently learning how to make the figure of their choice. After two figures are successfully completed students get a piece of authentic origami paper to make the final copy.
rd grade: Using great determination and focus, the GT cuties made excellent progress creating their very own board games this week. This project has really highlighted one of the group's shared strengths - depth of creative thought. Each and every one of the GT cuties has delved deeply into their game theme and is putting strong effort and mental sweat into the project.
th grade: We had limited, but productive, time together to work on the paper castle project this week. Students used their time wisely and were able to advance on the model castle they began last week. Several students moved from the initial phase, coloring, into the gluing and construction phase this week. By this time next week we should have lots of fully assembled paper castles!
th grade: The artistry of the tatebanko boxes the GT cuties are creating is truly captivating! Using what they learned from the model tatebanko they made, students have exceeded expectations as they masterfully sculpt scenes of invention. Students have to use strong creative and critical thinking skills in order to display the scene they want to show using tatebanko layers. What an impressive group of learners and thinkers!
