This week the kindergarten students explored three of the building kits we have in our classroom. They absolutely love to build! One of the kits is a set of magnetic rods and spheres. It is a favorite amongst the GT students, and these cuties are no exception. They also explored the Flexeez kit. We just acquired this set, and it a perfect match for the inquisitive and strong thinkers in our class. The third set is called Contraptions. It is a set of lots of small wooden planks and a few ping pong balls. The kids enjoyed constructing pathways for the ping pong balls to travel through.
The 1st grade GT cuties had an important week! They polished the Cinderella story they wrote and prepared themselves to pitch it to their classmates. Then, they took turns sharing their creative versions of the tale. Afterwards, they voted for the story they want to turn into a puppet show. That is the project we will do at the start of next school year. Congratulations to Aadya for composing the winning story!
The 2nd graders continued to work on their board games. Some of them completed their games and some did not. We will store these games over the summer and kick off the school year playing them. We would like to invite parents in for a game sharing day early in the year :-)
The 3rd graders spent one of the days this week working on their Student Self Report. The other two work days they spent playing critical thinking games with one another. They were able to delve deep into the game and challenge themselves against worthy opponents. The games they played were chess, checkers, and mancala.
The 4th grade students did not attend class Monday and Tuesday due to MAPS testing. On Wednesday they completed their paper airplane project reflection. Then, they played critical thinking games with one another.
5th grade students did not attend class Monday through Wednesday due to field trips and MAPS testing.
All grade levels enjoyed a MEGA FREE TIME on Thursday as a way to celebrate a job very well done in GT this year!!!
