The 2nd graders (pictured above) began a brand new project this week. They will be creating an original puppet show based on the story of Cinderella. The group will create everything from an original script to puppets to the puppet theater itself! To kick the project off, the students researched how the Cinderella story is told throughout the world. Next, we will generate a list of commonalities that run in every Cinderella story. Then, the kids will begin creating their own modern version of the story.
The 5th graders are excited to be participating in the first ever Festival de Eanes movie making contest. Here are the main components of the contest:
The Festival de Eanes would like to challenge students in K-12 to produce either a narrative or animation/stop-motion film. The theme for this year is SEL (Social Emotional Learning: empathy, compassion, kindness, etc.). Along with the theme, we will be requiring three items to be in your short film.
- The film must include the following prop: Fish
- The film must also include the following camera angles/shots: POV (point of view) and Extreme Closeup
- The line of dialogue that must be included in the film is: “Jeepers, how did you do that”
The 5th grade GT cuties' first task was to come up with a story idea. Each student pitched their idea to the group this week. Then they voted for their two favorite ideas. On Monday, the top three story ideas will be announced. Our class will be divided into three teams - each making a unique movie for the contest. The students will learn lessons about script writing, storyboarding, camera angles, and more. They will use what they learned with their movie teams as they generate an original film for the contest.
Lots of creative juices are flowing here in room 211!
