3rd and 4th grade: These classes are both off to strong starts when it comes to producing high quality work at an efficient pace. Students spent some time this week considering the eight thinking skills of GT class: interpersonal relationships, critical thinking, creative thinking, problem solving, self-discipline, time management, risk taking and quality work. They were asked to rank them in order of what they feel is the most important to the least important of these skills. Next, they began creating a Keynote presentation that explains each of the skills entirely in pictures. For this activity they may use photographs, emojis or pictures they make themselves. We will continue this activity next week.
5th grade: We enjoyed our first week of learning together! In keeping with a long standing tradition we played Two Truths and a Lie - Summer Edition on our first day back together. In order to prepare for the year ahead we worked on getting our iPads, binders, and classroom ready. Preparing iPads meant setting up a folder for GT apps. Students used a checklist to organize and add apps to this folder. They will use these apps for warm up activities throughout the year. The binders need a clean out, and students have, or will be, cleaning them out and getting them ready to store this year's creations. Our door contraption needs new and exciting plates to display this year. So, the 5th graders each created a uniquely designed paper plate that will hang on our door contraption at some point this year.
