The students began their study by drawing a picture of what each step of the process means to them. The challenge was to use drawings to convey actions and emotions involved in each step. They attached their drawing to a large piece of butcher paper with the step's name on it. After familiarizing themselves with each step the students' next endeavor was to write a realistic fiction story. The story's main character is the student them self! They had to tell about a time that they used the Engineering Design Process to create a project or test an idea. The students enjoyed writing about themselves and adding pictures and creativity to their work.
Students in 5th grade were busy researching Antarctica and creating ideas for Arts Days. Next week the Arts Days parents will be visiting our class. They will see and hear the children's ideas of activities Bridge Point students might do at the Antarctica station during Arts Days this year. Several crafts will be selected by the Arts Days parents for use during this year's event! The 5th grade GT students began by researching Antarctica. Next, they came up with a craft idea that aligns with what they learned. Then, they created a prototype of the craft. A special treat will occur for our 5th graders next Thursday. Ann Hicks, grandmother to a Bridge Point student, will Face Time with us. She wrote an article about a trip she took to Antarctica. She will share her article and pictures with us, and then she will answer questions from the kids. It is going to be amazing!!!
