Check out this message from the contest headquarters:
Young Film Makers, Teacher sponsors and parents,
We want to thank all the 79 film teams that participated in this year's first Festival de Eanes film festival. There were so many amazing films which resulted in us taking some extra time to judge films and finish out the wildcard round.
This year, we selected a campus finalist from each elementary campus (except for CCE which had no entries) and a finalist in each category in the secondary group as they only had a handful of films submitted.
That left us with 4 open wildcard slots. We put all of the remaining films (regardless of campus or age level) into the pool to pick the best two remaining "wildcard" films in each category.
We are excited to announce the following 16 finalists who will have their films shown on the big screen at Alamo Drafthouse (south Lamar location) on Wednesday, May 23rd. At that event, the winner of this year's film festival will be selected.
Animation Finalists: (in Alphabetical Order)
A Lost Friend (Wildcard from BCE)
Bait (BPE)
Chessking (BCE)
Dingaine and the Kite (EE)
Homebound (VVE)
Late Bloomer (Secondary finalist from WHS)
S.S. Magnifica (Wildcard from HCMS)
The Friendly Dragon (FTE)
Narrative Finalists: (in Alphabetical Order)
A Handful of Friends (EE)
A Thief's End (VVE)
Curfew (Wildcard from WRMS)
Fish Out of Water (FTE)
Fish School (Secondary finalist from WHS)
Held Captive (BPE)
The Mysterious Trail of Disappearance (BCE)
The Rumor (Wildcard from VVE)
Thank you to all that submitted films this year and to our judges who spanned all of Eanes ISD campuses and took time out of their schedule to score films.
Finalists - you will receive an RSVP email in the next couple of weeks with details for the film festival at Alamo Drafthouse on May 23rd. Stay tuned!
