Did you know that the cuties do a Warm Up activity each day they come to class? Since it is a part of their daily routine I wanted to explain it to you in more detail. Warm Up time usually lasts about 10 minutes. It serves several purposes:
- Gives a daily opportunity to sharpen critical and creative thinking skills
- Helps students compete with one another in a healthy and friendly way
- Gives an arrival time window, so students do not have to wait for everyone to get to class before they begin learning
- GT app(s)
- SET
- Mancala
- Checkers
- Chess
A good conversation starter might be for you to ask your child what their favorite warm up activity is and why. Ask them what they wish they could practice more and help them get the game(s) so they can practice at home.
Every good workout starts with a solid warm up - even a workout for the brain :-)
